Kyle Glover, PsyD

Clinical Supervisor

Dr. Kyle Glover (PSY34924) is a licensed clinical psychologist and the clinical supervisor at ORCA Mental Health where he supervises pre-licensed therapists in order to ensure a high standard of ethical care is adhered to by the clinical team. He earned his PsyD in Applied Clinical Psychology from The Chicago School.

Dr. Glover is formally trained as a daseinsanalyst, a modification of psychoanalysis that is based in the existential-phenomenological school of philosophy. He is currently secretary of the American Daseinsanalytic Institute in New York City which prepares therapists to be daseinsanalysts and makes the practice accessible to English speakers. This long term therapy is notable for its here-and-now approach, an emphasis on human freedom and responsibility, and the interpretation of dreams.

He began working in the mental health field in New York City and has worked with those who are severely mentally ill, the incarcerated, those with serious developmental and intellectual disabilities, and autism. Since moving to San Diego his work has been mainly in the addiction recovery field. His clinical philosophy and work is informed by a deep understanding of human suffering in its many forms.

Dr. Glover is also a writer and researcher, with articles published in peer-reviewed journals pertaining to men’s mental health and existential psychology. He is an erstwhile adjunct professor who teaches on addiction, psychopharmacology, and group therapy. He also frequently provides training to treatment centers in the San Diego area on how to incorporate existential themes into modern clinical practice.

When not engaged in clinical work or talking about therapy with other therapists, he spends his time reading and writing (usually about therapy). He has an avid interest in world history, philosophy, and religion. In quiet moments you might find him swimming or spending time with his cats.
